EXCLUSIVE: IN THEIR FIRST EVER INTERVIEW: MOUSSE

Thomas Dunleavy, Dan Hood and Alfie Bradshaw make up this band, with a name that has a double meaning. Mousse may be spelled like the food, but was actually inspired by the antler-ed animal. Undeterred by the use of the name by another band, they just switched up the spelling.

Meeting in college, Thomas was drawn to the standard of musicianship he saw the first time Alfie and Dan played at the Voodoo Lounge in Stamford. Despite being in a band for a while before, he saw the way they were their own kind of tight unit, and they decided to collectively give it a go. Still in the early days- describing it very much as the

honeymoon phase, without so much as any creative differences or small arguments.

Their music is inspired by the likes of The White Stripes, falling down the route of ‘gritty, blues rock’. With four new originals under their belts, in a very short period of time, the band are looking at fitting as support slots for other bands performing in the Stamford/ Peterborough area over the summer.

Long term plans are still in the works, with some unpredictability coming soon as two of the band are making plans for university and travel, but right now they are just focused on having a good time and making music.

This was written to be assessed as part of my Journalism course. This was in Semester 2 of Level 6 and was for the Undergraduate Major Project, where I created a (primarily) music magazine, aimed at Gen Z. Below is the page design for this article.
