NEWS SEGMENTS IN MY UNDERGRADUATE MAJOR PROJECT MAGAZINE (APRIL 2024)
YUNGBLUD BRANCHING OUT
After announcing his new festival, Bludfest, which will take place in Milton Keynes this August, Yungblud has changed direction again. He has now announced that his book, You Need to Exist, will come out on August 15th, with aims to unite people. He said: “This isn’t a book to sit quietly on your shelf, You Need To Exist is made to be scribbled in, painted over, broken, buried, thrown around a room with its pages ripped out before you send it out to the world. I want this book to be a place you find comfort, hope and ideas that you can carry with you every day. A constant reminder and a challenge to create without judgement. I can’t wait to see what you make with it!”
PARAMORE INDEPENDENCE
Paramore went independent a few months ago and are already teasing fans with new music. Hayley Williams spoke very positively about being independent now, adding about the future, “whatever we put out next will hopefully surprise people and make them go, ‘Oh! I didn’t think it was gonna go this way.’ Until then, we are just going to have to wait to see what they do next.
DOOKIE SELECTED FOR 2024 NATIONAL RECORDING REGISTRY
Dookie has been added to the Library of Congress’ exclusive annual list of albums deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”, one of 25 this year to be added. This comes almost 30 years after its original release. One of the reasons this is so special, especially this year, is that Dookie (as well as American Idiot) will be played along Saviors on the band's Saviors tour this year.
SLIPKNOT TEASER?
Despite being opposites in nature, a Slipknot sign has appeared in Indio, California, right next to Coachella. The cryptic sign has fans asking a lot of questions due to the billboards phrases such as “long may you die” and “one night only”. There is also a link to a mystery website- youcantkillme.com full of easter eggs for fans to find, but we won't spoil it for you, go check it out!
SCENE QUEEN ANNOUNCES ALBUM RELEASE DATE
Hot Singles in Your Area, Scene Queens debut album, finally has a confirmed release date. Mark your calendars for June 28th, because Scene Queens new album is highly anticipated for a reason- her incredible rise to fame on social media, and collabs with The Ready Set and 6arelyhuman have fans very excited. It is a new development in an already relatively new genre: Bimbocore. In this album, Scene Queen explores her sexuality, break ups and even getting a bit political at times.
BMTH ALBUM TEASER
“You cling to your virtual identity as if it were your very soul. Pathetic. I’m here to wipe away the detritus of your existence. All these thoughts, these memories, they are but a fleeting echo in an endless void. And just like that, you cease to exist in a digital realm. A mere blip erased from the annals of cyberspace. Farewell insignificant content.” This is how Bring me The Horizon announced their new album, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn. All we know is that this futuristic album will be released this summer, after Oli Sykes confirmed it had been delayed since last August.
JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER RELEASES DEATH/REBIRTH
The Stranger Things star and his band, BloodMagic, have just released their debut single, titled Death/Rebirth. The band is made up of Jamie Campbell Bower, and Kyle Adams, who is the drummer for the band. The singer announced the single with the statement “Blood runs through all of us, a little magic too. Welcome to BloodMagic.”
This was written to be assessed as part of my Journalism course. This was in Semester 2 of Level 6 and was for the Undergraduate Major Project, where I created a (primarily) music magazine, aimed at Gen Z. Below is the page design for this article.
